Two students were arrested Wednesday night for having a gun at Seacoast Church in Mt. Pleasant. The officers went into the worship center where about 500 students were gathered. They said they approached the suspects and found a Glock 27 at a boy’s feet. They also found a pill bottle with marijuana inside.
The juvenile and 17-year-old James Lohman Oyer were both charged with unlawful possession of a firearm. They were not charged for the marijuana that was found in a pill bottle.
This behavior is becoming systemic because teens are seeing that blatant hate crimes are being ignored and in some cases being praised. When the public sees injustice go unpunished it only emboldens those who seek to do harm. They know they can claim insanity. They know people are ready to believe the most outlandish stories and so this behavior continues.
