cross, christ

It is important to keep at the forefront of ones mind the cross. Why? It is the foundation of Christianity. Paul said,  “for I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified (1 Corinthians 2:2). As the days progress there will be more and more challenges to your faith in Jesus.

Evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived (2 Timothy 3:13). How? Through smooth speech and cunning craftiness will men and women be moved by teachers to fulfill the requirements of the flesh and not God.

Be on guard to remember when you are despised for doing well, that Jesus, who was perfect was crucified. Steven a man filled with the Spirit of God was stoned to death. Many others within scripture and within our contemporary setting are being killed for telling the truth.

So, if you feel bad or beaten and you know your living holy, understand the wicked are being set up and they will have their day. Because God is just he will make sure you have your day as well. Your eternal life is on the way.

What does it mean to abide in Christ? It means no longer living the way an individual has lived without Christ. Previous to the life of Christ a person lives with no regard for the creator’s desire. The creator has allowed this individual to live on earth and even fed this person but the individual lives within the parameters of his/her carnality. This person is not living under any rule but the rule of self-fulfillment. Whatever the person desires, sex outside of marriage, drinking an excess, cheating, lying and stealing, nothing is too far outside this person’s ability or completion, but Christ has shown us another way.

To abide in his love is to keep his commandments (John 15:10). In order for one to keep the commandments of God, one must know them. The commandment is to love one another (John 15:12). A person is most like God when they love God and love people also. We demonstrate this love through our commitment to abstain from having sex outside of marriage, drinking an excess, cheating, lying and stealing. We demonstrate our love to God by not forsaking the gathering together of the brethren and by spending time in prayer.

We abide in Christ through the spiritual formation of fasting and isolation. All these things encased in the love of God are abiding in Christ. It is a continuing process that requires daily attention. Our desire is with regard to our creator. Our power in prayer becomes effective because unlike a life previous to Christ, we begin to learn how to pray. Our heart prays the things God desires.

Intertwined with the life of Christ represented in our love for the brethren. We love so much because God loved us so much and the things we commit to doing are always out of this heart of love for our neighbor. If a person hates his brother the Bible says how can the love of God be in this person (1 John 3:15). Abiding in Christ is rolled up in loving God in reading the word, prayer, and fasting inwardly and outwardly through love seen and felt by people around the one abiding in Christ.

Today is the day I get the most excited. There seems to be something in the air or something in the psychological preconditioning of my youth up until this point that makes this day special. I happen to thrive on this day and sometimes I am successful. I am the doorway to suicide.

What many do not understand about me is that I automatically exist because life is all about me. From the moment I entered the earth and suck the breasts of my mother I understood that it was about me. I exist because I willed it.

For some reason not every girl or guy understood this. I faced rejection. I exist because I willed it. This is not the life I chose. It was not until I met Jesus that I realized that this is not the life I chose because I am not here because I willed it. I am here because God did.

I soon realized my low self-esteem was attached to my desire to be accepted because my identity was in my will. Now my identity is in Christ and no man on earth can remove me from his hand. For you men, a woman can, ask Solomon or Jimmy swaggart, men must flee. Ok! Back to the confession…

We hear this all the time that what you believe you shall achieve and the premise is that you have some sort of power, as an entity, who has willed itself to be. When others, through time and chance, have the appearance of doing so, you run toward the same vain only to find they lied to you. They do not have everything. So rich/poor men have multiple men/women, drugs, alcohol, and still it is not enough and through persistent abuse they overdose, die of AIDS, or commit quick suicide.

If your identity is not fully in Christ, a Judas moment in your life will end yours. Place everything in him and draw your esteem there and you will overcome every storm that life can bring. You will also see life properly and live it properly as well.

I Put On…

There are so many voices that speak, but who says you have to listen? God says, set your affections on things above and not on the earth. When spiritual creatures of immense dark power come raging with false accusations and false prophecies of defeat, put on the full amour of God. Put on every piece and let his voice alone speak into your mind and fill the depths of your heart, so that when its time perform his word in your life, no weapon formed against you will prosper.

Similar to this commercial I simply put on Christ.

Only let your conversation be worthy of the gospel of Christ; Philippians 1:27

You may or may not be aware that the PG-13 ratings, on movies, continue to slip downward with more and more curse words allowed. You may have seen Donald Trump use the F-word in his speeches and the crowd goes wild. You may have heard that the Brooklyn Public Library allows porn to be viewed on the computers, allowing those who pass by the ability to view it. You may have seen the increase of bleeps on regular cable TV, not including specialty channels like Showtime or HBO. This may or may not bother you, but if you love Jesus and desire peace and salvation for the lost it will.

Decay is a process over time that removes the integrity of its object. Christians can decay when we allow the decay to contact us. We allow the decay to contact us when our conversation reflects the world around us and not the gospel of Jesus Christ. If you call yourself a Christian and use curse words how do you justify the verse above? If you call yourself a Christian and tear others down and do not edify your family, friends, neighbor and enemies how do you justify the verse above? If this verse does not affect you at all why do you call yourself a Christian?

The world often accuses Christians of being hypocrites, but are those who are lost (Bible is not their guide), hypocrites calling themselves Christians when they are not?
