Chris Christie to announce $200 million to fight opioid crisis

Black people only represent 13.3 percent of the U.S. population while white people make up about 77 percent. But there are more black men in state prisons across the nation than there are white men.

The latest Federal Bureau of Prisons statistics showed the white population was 58.7 percent in August, compared to the 37.8 percent of blacks being housed at federal institutions. At the state level, however, the department said that black male prisoners represent 38 percent of the population while whites males account for 35 percent and 21 percent are Hispanic males. Overall, blacks are 5.1 more times likely to be incarcerated than whites, and blacks represent more than half of the prison population in 11 states.

The disparity is simple. When whites do crime they don’t get punished and receive the most compassion. Chris Christie announces $200 million to fight drug addiction that mainly affects white people. The solution for black people is more incarceration. This is white supremacy. Name calling may not feel good, but that isn’t white supremacy. White supremacy is a political system in-place the promotes injustice toward a specific group of people. That specific group is descendants of slaves or the African American.

Dismantling the system of white supremacy will require changes in public policy. A policy that grants descendants of slaves reparations for slavery and the continued injustice in America. I recently went to a World War I museum and learned that Black Wall Street was bombed from the air.

The date was June 1, 1921, when “Black Wall Street,” the name fittingly given to one of the most affluent all-Black communities in America, was bombed from the air and burned to the ground by mobs of envious whites. In a period spanning fewer than 12 hours, a once thriving 36-Black business district in northern Tulsa lay smoldering–a model community destroyed, and a major African-American economic movement resoundingly defused.

The night’s carnage left some 3,000 African Americans dead, and over 600 successful businesses lost. Among these were 21 churches, 21 restaurants, 30 grocery stores and two movie theaters, plus a hospital, a bank, a post office, libraries, schools, law offices, a half dozen private airplanes and even a bus system. The largest air bomb to hit American soil was aimed at African Americans. This is white supremacy.

Heavenly Father, you have seen the plight of African Americans in America over the centuries. Many have cried out to you. I cry out today. Forgive our sins and heal our land as we turn our hearts to you. In Jesus name.
