Oklahoma man gets 40 years in prison for raping Kenyan orphans during mission trip

OKLAHOMA CITY — A former missionary from Oklahoma convicted of sexually abusing children at an orphanage in Kenya was sentenced Monday to 40 years in a federal prison.

U.S. District Judge David L. Russell handed down the sentence to Matthew Lane Durham, 21, who had faced up to 30 years on each of four counts of engaging in illicit sexual conduct in foreign places. He also ordered Durham, of Edmond, to pay restitution of $15,863. Read more

Missionary work has a Scriptural basis, but unfortunately it may be weaponized. You should always question why someone wants to help you, but will not help those in ones own country or family. Always look for patterns of behavior and follow the logic. Would you take care of someones else’s kids before your own? Would you make sure  the kid down the block is fed and neglect your kids?

So why would someone leave their country to help others in another country. When they have starving children in the one they left? Does that fit the logic test or is there something sinister underneath?
