Forget It

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:13-14).

You cannot change the past. You cannot alter your past choices or experiences. You cannot change who raised you or abused you. You cannot change anything from the past. This means that once the time has past its gone. This does not mean that the past does not effect your present or your future in a significant way, it simply means it cannot be changed.

Since we know that the past cannot be changed, then thoughts concerning it become unfruitful. We become stagnate and we bear absolutely no fruit, but have now become fruitless. We have become dead water that does not bring life, but rather a bitter spring that destroys life. We have become stuck inside a time warp or black hole that is sucking you dry.

The solution for your freedom is to chose to forget the past and focus your attention on what you believe God has created you to do. Take your attention off of the past and look at where God actually is. He is standing in front of you. Look on Him. Choose to look on Him. He is not behind you. He is in front of you. That means you need to catch up. You do this by moving toward Him right Now. You have no past, you only have the future. Look at Jesus in front of you right now. He has blessings and things for you to do. Reach for him in prayer. Reach for him in obedience to the commands found in Scripture. Reach for Him by taking every opportunity to think on Him.
