Missouri teenagers Daisy Coleman, then 14, and her best friend Paige Parkhurst, 13, were sexually assaulted in 2012. The two girls snuck out during a sleepover, only to be raped in the basement of one of the most popular footballers at their high school.
Matthew Barnett, now 22, Jordan Zech, 24, Nick Groumoutis, 23, Cole Forney, 22, and an unnamed juvenile – who called themselves the ‘wolf pack’ – were all investigated. Daisy was dumped in her own front yard afterwards and found by her brother the next morning, suffering from frostbite and only partially clothed.
The unnamed juvenile confessed to raping Paige and was sentenced in juvenile court, while Barnett was merely charged with child endangerment. The girls struggled emotionally for years as online trolls verbally attacked them.
