Getting to the Root of Male and Female Masturbation

It would seem at the crux of every nation and mankind’s greatest downfall sex has been at the center. You look at Rome, Sodom, Israel, King David, Solomon, Samson, Persia, Egypt, Jericho and the list goes on. In time, if the Lord tarries, America will be added to the list by another writer.

The proliferation of sex on social media to the scandals in the Catholic Church, politicians and the rise of STD’s in teenagers, it is downright astounding and scary. The biggest problem is that the only solution given to mankind does not come without suffering.

As a former participant in sexual sins, I have searched long and hard and still search for great answers to this epidemic. However, I come up with nothing more than suffering. In our culture we want quick fixes and things that do not require work, for many laziness is the way to go. But the only answer found in Scripture concerning the flesh is suffering. “Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because whoever suffers in the body is done with sin” (1 Peter 4:1).

At the root of masturbation is mankinds origin. The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it (Jeremiah 17:9)? Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me (Psalm 51:5). My origin does not make it easy to live a sinless life, when I am cursed at birth with death and dead thinking, by being a product from Adam in the Garden of Eden. So what of masturbation?

Masturbation is a tool used to exploit lust. For no one going into masturbation does so without first having the feeling of lust and temptation otherwise it would not be done. “Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death” (James 1:15:16). “Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor fornicators nor men who have sex with men will inherit the kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:9-10).

The answer God has given to releasing sexual desires is marriage. Those who are married will atest that even this for many men only helps a little, as women across the globe in marital relationships deny their husbands sex.

Those who are single feel an extra sting, as Satan comes with lies through false psychologist speaking about the benefits of masturbation. These people are full of demons and cannot tell their right hand from their left. God is not going to be mocked. I am the voice crying in the wilderness.

So the ultimate answer goes back to the first verse “whoever suffers in the body is done with sin.”

If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:8-9). Let us walk and live in the spirit and be vigilant against liars who wait to deceive.
