It becomes important for you as a believer in Jesus Christ to protect yourself. You have a real adversary that desires your demise. He desires to destroy whatever God is trying to work in and out of your life. You must be diligent in prayer and wise as a serpent.
While sweeping underneath my welcome mat a thought entered my mind. Who will you allow to enter your home? For “anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take them into your house or welcome them” (2 John 1:9-10).
Are we guilty of welcoming Satan into our home? If you are, there is a way to remove him. “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (James 4:7). You must understand the devil is not playing games with you. He desires to kill you. He will use any means necessary and if he cannot kill you he will make you ineffective for the restoration of others.
Let me tell you a quick story. I was talking to a young lady about Jesus and she stopped me in the middle and said, “You know what?” “Your game is smooth.” “I feel so at peace with you.” In the natural, I saw this girl and thought what an attractive creature God has created. It was like, looking at Niagara Falls and the sun peering through the water crystals making that shiny sparkle. If I had been operating in my flesh, this witnessing may have changed, but the devil will use anything, remember that. She was not interested in me, but my testimony.
So I told her that the peace of God could follow her, if she would believe in Jesus Christ as the scapegoat who would free her from her sin. She said, that she would consider it and we parted ways and I never saw her again.
The reason for this story is simple. She was looking for a way in by complimenting me. Prayed up and focused, I proceeded with the purpose for which I begun the conversation in the first place. I had the discernment required to remain faithful.
Christians fall when they lose the ability to discriminate. When they lack the ability or power to see or make fine distinctions or have discernment.
As you walk in life remember this. If you refuse to pay attention to your prayer life, you will not possess the discernment necessary and something as simple as a compliment can make you fall into all sorts of sin. Choose carefully, whom, you welcome and don’t hesitate to discriminate for your protection.
