2013 MTV Video Music Awards - Show

NEW YORK, NY – AUGUST 25: Miley Cyrus performs onstage during the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards at the Barclays Center on August 25, 2013 in the Brooklyn borough of New York City. (Photo by Neilson Barnard/Getty Images for MTV)

The 20-year-old pop star stepped out onto the stage a ball of energy, wearing a fuzzy gray leotard, as her HIT single, “We Can’t Stop,” played. Cyrus took over the stage with gigantic; dancing bears and more twerking than viewers at home probably knew what to do with.

Now, I saw some Facebook friends commenting on Miley Cyrus VMA performance with shock and awe. My question is why? Does not the lyrics teach, “We can do what we want to?” Is this not the motto of many within the nations of the world? We hear the word of God, put it down and then do what we want to do.

I am not sure what the problem is. God himself said, “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm–neither hot nor cold–I am about to spit you out of my mouth (Revelation 3:15-16).

We need these types of lines drawn. Let dark be fully dark and let light be fully light. Are you having sex with someone who is not your husband or wife, while paying tithes, expecting God to bless you? Complaining about Miley Cyrus? Really??

Twitter accounts full of girls and grown mother’s showing their body parts at the same time on their title talking about how much they love God. How Jesus is their Savior and Lord, but many are shocked at Miley? We need to clean ourselves up. We need to train our children right and leave the world alone. Homosexuals are making discrimination laws in a country that is supposed to be over 80% Christian? How can this be?

Miley Cyrus is doing what she sees older women doing and society is paying her huge sums of money to do it.

  2. Yes, exactly right. She is going the way most of the other Disney “kids” have already gone. No surprise here, but it is very sad.

  3. Very well written and true. Judge not…

  4. “They” have been erasing the lines for quite a while. When Christians leave the world “alone” this is where it goes. God has “drawn” the lines, yet most “Christians” believe that God’s law (the lines) does not apply to the unrepentant. “They just don’t know any better” Then make the “best”
of the situation by using it as a pretext for criticism and the repentant sinners. When will Christians read (admit) Romans 1, and speak the truth “within” the culture, as the bible clearly teaches. This sin of omission is the only relevant one that needs to be placed upon the church’s shoulders and its proudly been committing it for fifty years. Eighty percent Christian in the US? I hope they have surveillance cameras in heaven.

  5. I didn’t see this, but I sure have seen a lot written about it. It is sad to see, and we pray for God to bring about change in our culture as well as in Miley’s life

  7. Very true. while it is very wrong and shocking what Miley did… I, as a young person, am very frustrated with the mixed signals I get from older Christians in this society. Some things they condemn in the culture, while they let other things of a similar nature (but to a lesser extent) roam in their own lives… it’s very confusing to my generation to see the adults have such double-standards for many things – modesty being a prime example. Thank you once again for being a reassuring voice of reason. God bless you, sir.

    • Your words are refreshing to me. I believe the older generation is getting weary and often times, money is the focus and not Christ crucified. I hear from Pastors and regular Christian’s about how much they care about reaching people for Christ and something as simple as purchasing a vehicle that they can afford they do not and now pressure others for tithes because of their foolishness. Pastor’s wives, looking similar, to the women on housewives of Beverly Hills speaking about the blessings of God, when sin is all in the house of God. Sadly, I have not been to a church that looks like the example of the church that Paul speaks of. Today, that church will not fly. I am more challenged by my personal trainer than the church pastor and that’s sad, seeing that anyone who lives Godly will suffer persecution. Christians avoid persecution like the plague, but Satan is after the church and with the proliferation of homosexual, transgender, removal of prayer, and placing Christians on the watch list, our days are numbered and the real Christian will have no choice, but to stand or be destroyed by Satan’s power. Of course, the real Christian will not be destroyed as his Rock is Christ and death is not our end.
