I was channel surfing and found a show called a 1000 WAYS TO DIE. Have you seen it? The show sounds morbid, but interestingly, many of the stories I found poetic in nature, because the ones dying were all premature deaths and the recipients were committing sins right before.
The first story was of a woman holding a kissing booth. She was selling kisses for charity. She was lining her pockets with the money, when suddenly a guy shows up she had dated before. Other guys got pecks, but she gives this familiar guy a real passionate kiss. Some of the peanut brittle he was eating goes down her throat and she dies. She was allergic to peanuts and her throat swelled up and killed her.
The second story was about a Teen Christian Bible Camp. These teens were around the campfire singing Amazing Grace when one girl thought it would be a good idea to help these Christians get in touch with God by spiking the food with ecstasy. Well, it worked and the excited teens desired one another and right before they got to it. One teen decided to put the fire out with her guitar and starts smashing the flame. Smoke shoots into the throat of the girl who spiked the food and she decides to wash it down with extremely hot water and the heat causes her esophagus to constrict and she dies.
The show had more stories, however, this is the last one I will share for my purposes. This man tows vehicles for a living and likes to cheat ladies out of their money. He also likes to peep under their skirts. This man decides to take a long peep under this girl’s skirt while hooking her car up and does it improperly. He does not realize that he hooked the hook to a loose rod instead of the tow hook under the vehicle. As he draws the vehicle up the rod snaps and the hook smacks him into the head killing him.
As I watched this show I thought about how God’s grace has kept me. How many things I had done and the Lord’s mercy that has sustained me. How many situations have we been in and God’s grace allowed moments that death, could have been our story, but was not. How many bad situations have we found ourselves in and been saved?
The other side of this story is the unknown. God’s judgment often comes at a time when least expected. This is why the Bible tells us to fear the Lord. “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him, which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell (Matt. 10:28). Let us keep in mind the brevity of life and recall how frail we are and choose to live righteously. After all, there is 1000 WAYS TO DIE.

everytime I think about all of the times I should have died, it reaffirms to me that God has a purpose for me, why else would I still be here….and to ignore His purpose and His leading would be a tragedy indeed!
a tragedy indeed. Having eyes to see the movement of God is crucial for flaming the fire of passion in God.
Very good post . I have not seen the show but aware of it. I think none of us know just how much mercy has been extended to us either as a result of our own repentance, or a byproduct of the prayers of other for us unawares.
My mom used to say ‘ your sins will find you out’ and ‘you cannot bring your injustices into Heaven’.
The Bible says not to tempt Gods grace , or continue to grieve the Holy Spirit…these peoples’ consciously know what they are doing or about to do is wrong, and they overrule the still small voice inside , and push through willfully ,…to obviously fatal results.
We are all milliseconds away from where we are going…..for better or worse.

Amen! God’s grace is without respect of person and I just thank Him for keeping me especially during the times I deliberately disobeyed His will. He is so faithful and just and no matter what I owe Him my all! I watched this show a few times and I noticed the same pattern; everyone seemed to be sinning! So thankful for His grace!

Most of the stories on there are not, in any historical sense, true. Some are pure invention and nonsense, others are thematic and some, while possible or based on real events, are embellished out of all accuracy.
Thank you for your clarification of the entertainment industry and television in general. Similar to Bible movies on television as well. To give the story a certain flow, creative activity must be used or else the movie or show would be choppy. The Bible is not a novel giving every single detail and neither would any story surrounding ones death be the same way. Details must be added. Regardless of these embellishments people die daily. Many of my family members on my father’s side have died. Mostly, drugs, alcohol and sex (aids). All of my Father’s brothers are dead (prematurely). I wonder if like my Dad they came to Christ would they still be here?
I always thought “The Last Temptation of the Christ” was the most Biblically accurate movie, though it bugs Evangelicals for some reason.
Again, any movie created must add to the text otherwise the movie would be dry. Have you ever read a novel and it says for example, her glowing blonde hair swayed in the wind as the beast in front of her blew his large nostrils. You should see within your mind a blonde girl and a beast and begin picturing how close this beast must be to her face. With more words the picture becomes more clear. Well, the Bible does not do this. There are some very descriptive things, but even with those many details are left out. We know the material that Noah used to build the Ark. We do not know how he sweated in his clothes. We do not know whether or not bugs where flying in his face while he was building. A movie or show would have to add all these details that are not in scripture.
So here is my question – if this is true:
“Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ, and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation.” 2 Corinthians 5:18-19 NASB
And God actually is not counting their trespasses against them until the day they stand before him, can we blame their cruel and sudden death on their sin?
I am really trying to get my mind around what you are implying, and I am not trying to be argumentative. Do you think that God actually was in Christ, and actually reconciled the WORLD to Himself – or did He only reconcile Christians?
I am not saying those that do not know Christ as Lord and Master will not face judgment and then hell. That is clear. But before death, are they not all targets of the grace of God who is desiring their salvation, rather than their destruction?

I believe the answer to this question is given in my answer to the last comment concerning my Father’s brothers. Can someone die before there time? Of course. “Do not be overwicked, and do not be a fool–why die before your time?” (Ecclesiastes 7:17). Does God reserve all judgment for the afterlife? Ask Ananias and Sapphira. Ask the 20,000 people who came against Moses. Ask Miriam (prophetess) who was Moses sister who came against her brother about his interracial relationship and was given leprosy.
