THE PERFECT LOVE STORY IV

Sitting in his love seat and recalling the times before, my friend believes things in his marriage may be restored. Somehow the soft cushion of this recliner causes him to reminiscence of the days before the confusion. The days before the conflict and as he works through his memory to find, what is at the center of this division, alas the light bulb has turned on and he recalls the suffering of Jesus within the garden of Gethsemane and then the resurrection. If Jesus went through suffering, I must be a fool to think that I am able to escape it, I must also be a double fool not to believe that it has an expiration and with anticipation I can wait for this suffering to have an end.

My phone rings and he is unable to get the words out fast enough. I am planning a trip for my wife and it is going to be spectacular. I am also returning to church and I am going to pour on the love. She is going to be dripping with so much love and I will wait patiently for the results. The cross for this relationship will be over. Apprehensive of his quick excitement, but not saying a word I recall the scripture where Paul discusses about husbands and wives being unequally yoked and if the unbelieving spouse desires to stay within the marriage let them. Why? You never know if they may be led to Christ by your behavior. Needless to say the trip that he plans, takes them to the shores of cocoa beach.

While at the beach as the husband prepares their spot, his wife needs to use the rest room and so she goes to the rest the restroom and runs into an old friend. It had been 6 years since they last saw one another. As they embraced and asked the proverbial question what has been going on and how is life, her friend quickly reveals that she has met the Lord. Now she is taken back by her boldness and odd change because she had always been known to be to smart for Christianity. After the initial shock she tells her about a gathering with other church members on the beach later in the evening and that she is more than welcome to come, in fact, you have not seen me and must come. She accepts the invitation and returns to her husband with the news.

He could not be more excited by this turn of events. It was like the heavens opened and showed him tonight is your night. It was surely his night that night. His wife went to the gathering and met some great people and experienced something she never did before and gave her life to Jesus. She wanted the same thing her friend had found. My friend is funny, because he tells me that she also gave him the time of his life within the bed as well. It was the marriage icing on the wonderful cake established by Jesus. I could go on about how his cross is over at this juncture, but that’s his story not my own.

  1. aaawwwww man!!!!! lol,….i’m tryin to find part three roger,….i gotta re read it!!!! lol,……..where is it????

    • Thanks for your comments. I find them colorful. Part three should be seen from the first page. The only one that is covered is the original.

      • colorful?????? lol…….you know roger,….if we can not truly have joy as part of a faith, a “lively faith” which “offers” joy!!!!! then i want no part of it!!!!! but, because of my faith,….I DO HAVE JOY………being excited about our faith, by being real, and honest with our “self”…..is, an invaluable thing!!!!

let’s see,…hmmmm,…a dull dead hollow religion of going through outward motions??????? or,….a faith that comes from the inside that makes our life complete, as well as lovingly surprising?????? which will it be, which will it be????? lol

as has been said before,…if there was anything at all gained by the “going through and practicing of motions”,……then i’d “practicing” (doing) motions of walking through my garage door with and the delusion of being a car by sunrise!!!!!! lol

somebody shoot me!!!!! lol AS FOR ME, I’LL CHOOSE THE LIVELY FAITH!!!!!!

for a “lively faith” is what ADDS “SPICE” TO AN OTHERWISE BLAND RELIGIOUS “PROMISE???”……………

IF THE SPICE HAS LOST IT’S SPICINESS!!!! lol,…i mean,…”salt”……..you know the rest of it……..have a good one roger!!! thanks again

  2. ok,….so that as they say,..is that……………..cliffhangers??? i hate em!!!!! lol……….so roger,….hypothetical fiction????? designed to stimulate questions and answers??? or is this one of those,…i had this “friend” (wink wink) stories that are often told when the one doing the writing didn’t want to admit that “he”,…the “author”,….was in reality,…..his own “friend?????”……..cmon man,….fess up!!!! lol

  3. And once again this morning I am shown the awesome nature of God and what he does. Thank you.

    • He has made every thing beautiful in its time: also he has put eternity in men’s hearts, so that no man can find out the work that God does from the beginning to the end. Ecclesiastes 3:11

  4. Roger, i enjoyed the write, it’s beautiful what the invisible spirit leads us to do, or has others help to lead us to do…always ending in joyfull praise, if we listen to His call!

I have a question. Is it being unequally yoked marrying a born again Christian who doesn’t speak in tongues? They recognise it as a gift, but they want to receive it as a gift. What’s everybody take on this?

    • judith,…how are you beautiful!!!!!??? young lady,…your question just brought flood of memories rushin back to me!!!!! lol speakin in tongues, huh????? are you pentacostal, by chance???………wow,…the times i had in the pentacostal church!!!!???? lol,…don’t misunderstand what you may think that i mean by that,…ok??? i had some great times!!!!! and i have also had,….some not so great times too!

the good times??? these were when God’s spirit was movin,…..

the bad times??? these were the times when “man” tried to put himself in the position to be so “daring???!!!!!”, as to think they he would force people to do what he told then to, which according to him,…would “prove” their godliness??????!!!!!! (daring??? no. stupid??? yeah, i prefer stupid much better!!!!)

are we told that there are differing (spiritual and Godly) gifts,….but only one (true) spirit who gives us these gifts????? google this young lady,……biblegateway is a great place to search…..i will be glad to talk more with you in a while,……but,…..if you can, google now and let us know what you find, please,……will you do that??? and then share with us all??? thank you much!!!!!!! have fun!

    • In a word: No. Gifts don’t matter, walking with the Lord does. The difference is simply this: before, they were going two separate directions; now, they are heading in essentially the same direction. Learning to walk the path takes time, and is a wonderful experience, both for the student, and for the teacher.

Thank you Don for replying. I am saying more about this subject in my reply to JohnDoe

    • hi judith,…i was hoping that we would hear back from you. ??? where did you go??? as for the unequally yoked question. i found a “hidden” statement in the question itself. spiritual gifts do not in any way ever make one person/christian/believer “better” than another.

God tells us that He is no respecter of persons. this means that we are all (viewed by Him) the same as the next. To “think” that “we our self” is or are, something special,….especially when we may think that, because of spiritual gifts given to us,…..then we would really be wise to “double check” our attitude.

“Pride” is one of the seven deadly sins. There is a reason it is deadly. The spiritual gifts are to be used to help and strengthen and encourage all others!!! But,…when pride is “not recognized” and kept/put in it’s place,…then our gifts can be used to hurt others,…..and at the same time,…..these gifts will hurt us.

      • judithsmarkworld

Hi John. First of all. Thank you for replying.
I am now without a laptop so i am writing from my phone. I finally looked up difference bw spiritual gifts and Godly gifts. It created more questions than answers so I will have to read my bible. What I got though is that Godly gifts are more character based.
When it comes to the question. I always thought that those that don’t speak in tongues were missing out on some benefits. Like having the Holy Spirit pray to Father God directly through you. And hear from the Father directly. I just think that later on in the marriage there could be tension because both sides are not doing it together.
Don is right its not a requirement to speak in tongues. But doing that builds your spirit man. And doing that decreases your soul. Meaning your getting closer to being the perfect image of Jesus.
With my fiance what I have proposed and he has agreed to is hear teachings about tongues. Then after that it is his decision to make. Whatever he chooses I will respect it. And will let the Holy Spirit talk to him.
Concerning your experience with Pentecostal church…. I agree with you. I am not a Pentecostal. I go to a Word of Faith church. But nowadays I feel I have extended my stay there. So I will be making a decision in the upcoming months.
Thank you again for your insight.

    • It was my desire to hold my peace until those who would desire to chime in and answer would. I think what has been said is good. I would add that because speaking in tongues usually accompany a different type of church and non-speakers attend another this could become the sticking point. I have seen couples going to separate churches for which I think is stupid. A family that prays together, churches together, stays together. So it is here where you must begin to either compromise or drawn the line.

Thank you Roger. Today I was reminded of the saying “give a little, get a little.” So we gotta compromise together.

  6. A wonderful conclusion and an awesome example of why not marrying an unbeliever is a strong advisement but not a commandment. Now, the real romance begins!

  7. I need paragraph breaks – hard to read! Good stuff though 🙂

    • Great feedback! Thanks! Hope this helps.

    • paragraph breaks?????? roger,…….what is she talkin about????? is that like a coffee break????? you have to read a little,…”and then” sit under a tree for a while before coming back to read more?????? hhhhmmmmmmmm,…i’m gonna have to google this paragraph break thing?????? another thought. since i love the comma dot dot dot plus ellipsis thing,…and all the exclamation points and question marks,…….does that mean that i am BEING PUNCTUAL????????????? wow,….there is so much left to learn about in this life, huh??? lol
