It is easy to give thanks when someone complements you. It is easy to give thanks when you drop something and someone else picks it up. It is easy to give thanks when given the message, that you have just been promoted. Giving thanks comes natural. Giving thanks is part of the culture in which we live. Young children are taught when receiving change or a lollipop from the cashier to say “thank you.” Have you told God thank you? He also desires the cultural thank you as well. Philippians 4:6 records “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with “thanksgiving” let your requests be made known to God. Thanksgiving with my request is important. Telling the almighty you trust that he will handle your request with care and thank him because you know all things work together for the good to those who love God and are called according to his purpose. You tell God thank you because in faith you know your request is heard. Your response of “thank you” has been commanded in scripture already and also lets God know your prayer was prayed in faith. How? It is easy to give thanks when someone gives you something. You give thanks knowing you just received a gift and should we not also give God thanks knowing we just received a gift; his Son Jesus and with this relationship the ability to pray our request with thanksgiving.
Remember after you “just ask” just give thanks.
