DEFAULT

Jesus, default, first,

What is your setting? What thought runs first, within your mind at the sight of danger? Where do you get answers from first? Is it the training you received in high school? Perhaps your psychology degree or sociology classes are the first thoughts that run within your mind. Who are you listening to?

If I were to ask you about relationships, would your experience define your truth or would your source be from another? If I were to ask you about an emotional problem, dealing with sickness or molestation what would you tell me? If I am single searching for the perfect mate and seem to only find abusers, what would be your words?

Would you immediately think about the Creator of heaven and earth? Would you secretly pray within your mind for the answer? Would you call on the name of the Lord?

Your default says a lot about, who, you depend on in times of trouble. Your default is clear evidence where you stand in your relationship with Jesus. For if he is the second, third, or fourth option, you are in trouble.

Whatever default your computer comes with can be changed, but not without the knowledge and time spent to change it. Spend time with Jesus and let him change your default.

DEBT IN AMERICA

debt in america, debt,

Jesus said for the believer to seek first his kingdom. He said he would meet our need for shelter, clothing, and food. The Lord is not ignorant of our plight and desires for his beloved people to be well. The problem is that we have lost the plenary word. We receive pieces of the truth without the whole truth. Take for instance:

1 Timothy 2:8-10 (Contemporary English Version)8I want everyone everywhere to lift innocent hands toward heaven and pray, without being angry or arguing with each other.  9I would like for women to wear modest and sensible clothes. They should not have fancy hairdos, or wear expensive clothes, or put on jewelry made of gold or pearls. 10Women who claim to love God should do helpful things for others,

Are you serious you want me to live within my means Jesus? What an awesome wife this would be; a woman who loves people more than things.

What about:

Proverbs 6:6-116You lazy people can learn by watching an anthill. 7Ants don’t have    leaders, 8but they store up food during harvest season.9How long will you lie there doing  nothing at all? When are you going to get up and stop sleeping? 10Sleep a little. Doze a     little. Fold your hands and twiddle your thumbs. 11Suddenly, everything is gone, as   though it had been taken by an armed robber.

Are you serious you want me to work Jesus? What an awesome husband this would be; a man who works and has a vision to save for the winter.

Jesus wants his people to have an attitude that is directed toward seeking his face, serving others, living within your means and saving for the winter. A debtor is servant to the lender. 1 Timothy 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.

On a brief side note that will not be plenary on the subject of tithing, seeking God’s face leads to 2 Corinthians 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. A man who does not first take care of his own house is worse than an infidel. If you follow the above you will have no problem giving money toward the local church. As far as curses and blessings based upon giving ten percent and the so-called devourer not eating your wealth that is a lie. I am also not ignorant of the fact that many say they give ten percent in fact do not; remember godliness with contentment is great gain.

Would Jesus have an emergency fund?

emergency fund, saving, rainy day

Jesus had one purpose on earth to shed his blood, for without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins. If there is no remission there is no salvation, and if there is no salvation than being on earth would be most miserable for all. It is my opinion that Jesus did not have an emergency fund. I also believe that as humans we are to imitate Christ but also understand that we are human and can never be Jesus. While the disciples were with Jesus they did not need to fast they didn’t need to store in barns because the bridegroom was with them. Hence, Peter receiving the coin from the fishes mouth. Notice the change after the death and resurrection of Jesus. The disciples then began to fast and individuals shared all the wealth so that all had sufficiency. Where are the five loaves and two fish miracles? Don’t misunderstand me, Jesus still performs miracles today and uses his people to perform them, however the new covenant is that each individual who believes in Jesus Christ receives the Spirit of God and through obedience of the Spirit receives his revelation and knowledge to lead a life that keeps the saved individual from becoming busybodies. So wisdom for us today is save for the bridegroom is coming, but not yet here.
