What is your default setting? Is it driven by the secular society that surrounds you or the word of God written within the pages of scripture? Have you co-signed on a loan that the Bible prohibits? Have you been burned by this disobedience? Are you suffering because you were surety (contracted to be responsible for another’s debt) for a friend even though the Bible prohibits this? Have you been burned by this disobedience? Have you consider your way and asked the Lord Jesus before making purchases? The Bible commands us to acknowledge God in all our ways, for he will direct our paths? Have you been burned by frivolous purchases and suffering a mountain of debt? Hide yourself saints of God. The ant stores food for the winter, literally the ant is at peace during famine. Are you? Have you considered that your default is the memory of the seductive commercials enticing you to buy just about everything, whether you require it or not. The great thing about the default is that they may be changed. Changing them requires a new set of data to replace the old default. If you are watching and taking in more commercials than you are reading the Bible, your default is the commercials. The only way to change your default is to read your Bible and know what it says. The wisdom in this paragraph comes from Proverbs and Ecclesiastes in the Bible. Read them for your safety. The devil desires to shred and kill you. He may only be stopped through the wisdom found in Christ.

DEBT IN AMERICA

Jesus said for the believer to seek first his kingdom. He said he would meet our need for shelter, clothing, and food. The Lord is not ignorant of our plight and desires for his beloved people to be well. The problem is that we have lost the plenary word. We receive pieces of the truth without the whole truth. Take for instance:

1 Timothy 2:8-10 (Contemporary English Version)8I want everyone everywhere to lift innocent hands toward heaven and pray, without being angry or arguing with each other.  9I would like for women to wear modest and sensible clothes. They should not have fancy hairdos, or wear expensive clothes, or put on jewelry made of gold or pearls. 10Women who claim to love God should do helpful things for others,

Are you serious you want me to live within my means Jesus? What an awesome wife this would be; a woman who loves people more than things.

What about:

Proverbs 6:6-116You lazy people can learn by watching an anthill. 7Ants don’t have    leaders, 8but they store up food during harvest season.9How long will you lie there doing  nothing at all? When are you going to get up and stop sleeping? 10Sleep a little. Doze a     little. Fold your hands and twiddle your thumbs. 11Suddenly, everything is gone, as   though it had been taken by an armed robber.

Are you serious you want me to work Jesus? What an awesome husband this would be; a man who works and has a vision to save for the winter.

Jesus wants his people to have an attitude that is directed toward seeking his face, serving others, living within your means and saving for the winter. A debtor is servant to the lender. 1 Timothy 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.

On a brief side note that will not be plenary on the subject of tithing, seeking God’s face leads to 2 Corinthians 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. A man who does not first take care of his own house is worse than an infidel. If you follow the above you will have no problem giving money toward the local church. As far as curses and blessings based upon giving ten percent and the so-called devourer not eating your wealth that is a lie. I am also not ignorant of the fact that many say they give ten percent in fact do not; remember godliness with contentment is great gain.
