Hi, I just have a question….but. dont we need lust first, in order to lead INTO love? – when speaking of relationships.
Are we not made, in our primal states, to be attracted to certain members of the opposite sex, because of genes, because the opposite sex appears to us, to be the compatible mate? Isn’t it what brings people together in the first place?
I totally agree that lust in itself will never sustain – anything, long term, but I do question the idea that we should totally deny all “lust”.
I feel, sexual attraction has it’s place, but so often it is exploited. In this day and age certainly, it is exploited and I think many people are indulging too much in only the lust part.
Oh my…I can’t believe I said LUST so many times, lol!
That is a great question. I will begin with this. I believe in love at first sight. Hold your breathe… The Bible records that Jacob loved Rachel from the moment he saw her. Jacob served seven years to get Rachel, but they seemed like only a few days to him because of his love for her. He was tricked into working seven more years for a total of 14 years, before marrying Rachel. He did not touch this women. Today, sex can be gotten in less than 14 hours of meeting a women. Lust is intense and unrestrained sexual craving, that would have never made this test. Of course, lust has more than one meaning and is not relegated to sex.
Another note: Do not confuse lust with attraction. I see attractive women almost everyday, but I do not lust after them. Attraction can be the thin gateway to love and I would not discount it. Jacob was most certainly attracted to Rachel, but love with its enormous power holds within it attraction as well.
I think we have become a society which feeds the whole lust thing. You just have to turn on the TV – watch a music video….
Less than 14 hours I would imagine.
I’m not religious, as such, but certainly I share the opinion that morals and values have flown out the window and we are living in a very selfish, sometimes vulgar world where little value is placed on TRUE love – and respect.
